We saw a problem.
In the rural areas of Cambodia, schools often lack teaching resources due to the lack of government funding. Poverty in many families has resulted in many young children having to start work at a tender age to provide for their family. The way to break this poverty cycle is education. However, ordinary schools in Cambodia are rarely equipped with facilities like the library for its students. Therefore, Libraries for Cambodia aims to provide a conducive studying environment for the students of Cambodia, to promote education in regular families.
We had an idea.
We decided to start up Libraries for Cambodia, a non-profit organisation, to allow easy access to books for the children of Cambodia. By doing so, we hope to further enrich their education, as well as provide them a source of entertainment through story-reading. We believe that the libraries will be a good environment for their education and their relaxation. Our first project started in late 2016 and completed in 2017.
